Frequently Asked Questions

F.A.Q.

CAN I SEE MY TEETH’S FINAL OUTCOME BEFORE STARTING TREATMENT?

Yes, the computer simulation shows the state of the teeth at the end of the treatment. However, it should not be forgotten that the result to be obtained depends on the response of the patient's duration of use of the plates.

WHAT IS THE COMPUTER SIMULATION?

Computer simulation (ClinCheck) is an application for planning the treatment. Within 10 days after the digital scan of your teeth is taken, your doctor makes the desired changes on your teeth.

HOW DOES TEETH MOVE WITH ALIGNERS?

After your treatment is planned on the computer, aligners are fabricated. After the attachments are bonded to the teeth, force begins to apply and each use of the aligner creates a movement of approximately 0.5 mm in the teeth. With each aligner change, new forces are applied and the teeth are gradually straightened.

WHERE AND HOW ARE THE ALIGNERS MANUFACTURED?

The digital scan of the patient is sent to the centers abroad, and virtual models are created in the computer environment with the three-dimensional modeling method. On these models created in the computer environment, the desired movements are given to the teeth by computer simulation, and the process and final outcome of the treatment are determined on the computer according to the doctor's request.

IN HOW MANY WEEKS DO THE ALIGNERS ARRIVE?

It takes 3-4 weeks to plan, produce and ship the aligners to the clinic.

WILL I HAVE PAIN IN MY TEETH WITH INVISALIGN TREATMENT?

Like orthodontic treatments with braces, clear aligners apply forces to move your teeth. Due to these forces, there will be pressure and pain in the teeth for a few days. In the following days, your teeth will continue to move, but the discomfort in your teeth will pass.

HOW MANY HOURS PER DAY DO I HAVE TO WEAR MY ALIGNERS?

You need to wear it for at least 20 hours a day.

WHAT ARE ATTACHMENTS?

Attachments are small tooth-colored filling materials that are bonded to the teeth to make the aligners achieve more difficult movements on the teeth. It is applied on different teeth according to the desired movement. Since filling materials that are the same color as the tooth are used, they do not create an aesthetic flaw.

HOW LONG WILL MY TREATMENT LAST?

The duration of treatment depends on the number of aligners which varies from patient to patient. Your doctor will give you an estimated time of treatment.

MAINTENANCE AND ORAL HYGIENE

It is desirable to brush the teeth 3 times a day, in the morning, at noon and in the evening. Before brushing, it is important to remove the aligners and brush them under warm water in order to avoid odor and saliva. Aligners should be removed for eating and brushing. Aligners should be removed so that drinks such as tea, coffee and red wine do not discolor. It does not need to be removed when drinking water.

CAN ANY DOCTOR PERFORM ALIGNER TREATMENT?

No. Most aligner companies only accept applications from orthodontists who are certified in this field. Treatment planning is the most important stage of treatment and therefore it should be done by orthodontists who have received this training. With wrong planning, unwanted results are achieved, loss of money and time is inevitable.

DO NOT DO THESE!

No eating while the aligners are in the mouth

Do not drink anything very hot while the aligners are in the mouth

No smoking while aligners are in the mouth

No aligner change before the time specified by the orthodontist
